The following prayers are contemporary compositions for Sacred Athena. They are not translations of ancient hymns.
Before study
Athena, companion of careful thought, receive this time of study. Help me attend to what is before me, ask a useful question, and recognize the limits of what I know. May patience deepen my understanding, and may what I learn become useful to others.
When judgment is difficult
Athena, whose counsel steadies action, help me look clearly at this choice. Let me listen without haste and distinguish evidence from fear or preference. Give me courage to act when the time is right, and humility to revise what I have misunderstood.
Before making or repairing
Athena Ergane, honored in skilled work, bless the care I bring to this task. May I respect the material, learn from those who know it, and correct mistakes without resentment. Let the finished work serve its purpose well.
In gratitude
Athena, I give thanks for the work completed and the knowledge gained along the way. Receive this remembrance of your presence in my study and practice. May the good of this undertaking continue in what I do next.
